It is Day 10, and I have officially finished my first week here in Sorrento, Italy as a student at the Sant'Anna Institute.
The best way I feel that can explain my first week was overwhelming, but one of the best experiences in my life. I have learned so much seen beautiful places and found a great group of friends I have connected with throughout the past week. We have spent many of our days exploring the town with big groups of students visiting the shops and bars together. Most of our days include getting a table of 8 people at a restaurant, which can be very stressful.
Aside from exploring Sorrento beaches and bars with my friends, we have had a great time exploring Naples and the Amalfi Coast during our first week.
Naples was the first place I had traveled to outside of Sorrento and it was a truly eye-opening experience. Aside from the beautiful churches and history, the city was filled with culture and life. It has been my favorite place to visit thus far, as I loved how different it was from other places I have visited and how you can see a variety of cultural influences throughout the town. Especially looking at the decorations along the town and the locals singing. Here is a collage I created for my Naples Scavenger Hunt!
The Amalfi Coast was absolutely beautiful, especially looking at the coastline on the bus ride over and back, However, it was a lot more packed and tourist-based compared to Sorrento and Naples. My favorite parts included the bus ride over and enjoying the magnificent views of Villa Cimbrone.
One of my favorite places to see in Sorrento is Marina Grande. I spend most of the days in Sorrento visiting the town at least once a week, even with occasional night times to eat in the ristorantes near the shore or to watch the boats in the water. One of my favorite memories at Marina Grande was sitting by the beach at one of the restaurants while a musician was playing Italian music on one of my first nights in Sorrento.
I am excited to continue to explore the town and make more memories throughout the next 4 weeks.
Ciao!
